Foire de la saint Martin

Traditional fair of the Vevey Autumn, the Foire de la saint Martin takes places every year the second tuesday of November. This year, this event will take place on the 10th of November

Since 2003, the brotherhood of Saint Martin is responsible for organizing this great event.

The fair begins very early at 6am, by a procalamation, and is followed by a distribution of sweets. Around 9am, the procession, composed of various associations in full dress of ceremony, accompanies by bands, crosses the city to reach the Grenette (market square on the harbor) for the opening of the Fair Saint Martin.

Enjoy one of Switzerland‘s oldest fairs (15th century) with a wide range of local products, arts & crafts and culinary dishes like the « papet vaudois » , beef on a spit and regional wine.

Vevey Retro

Vevey Retro is a dedicated event to the old vehicles that will take place on september 12-13th 2009 on the market place of Vevey. The aim of this event is to gather owners and amateurs of old cars, motor bikes, etc..... and even tractors. Do not expect thousands of luxury cars as it is open to all kind of marks and models.

However if you like cars, I guess it is a nice occasion to interact with owners and fans.

If you like the famous "mini", just go there as they will celebrate the 50th anniversary of this mythic car. This year the Vevey retro will also be dedicated to british cars.

If the weather is nice, I guess it is a nice occasion to walk around in Vevey, also in the old town which is cute, a few steps from the market place.

The Beach Volley World Championship will stop in Vevey in August

From 13 to 16 August 2009, the market square in Vevey is going to turn into beach volleyball field. Used to receive other types of events, the market square in Vevey will welcome for the first time a stage of the World Championship Beach Volley WVBF Protour organized by the world federation.

To organize this event, the organization will bring 170 tons of sand, the infrastructure will includes 1000 seats, bars and food stands.

The competition will start from 17h00 and continue until 23h00. There will be 8 teams of men and 6 teams of women, all professionals from the USA, Bolivia, Argentina, Slovenia, Italy, Brazil, Mali and Switzerland.

Situated in front of the lake, I am sure that the location will make this event just exceptional.

But there will not be only the official games - every morning from 09h00 to 12h00, the field will be reserved for young people aged from 8 to 15 years. There will be many activities, small tournaments, etc ... Registrations are required for children: Tel:41 320 03 66 or wvbf@bluewin.ch
There will even be a tournament for local companies, it would be fun to see the major executives of Nestlé play!!

All games are free of charge, including those of the pros.

Folklore Markets in Vevey

If you like traditions and wish to discover the folklore of the region, you will enjoy the Vevey Folklore markets.

This great event of the Swiss Riviera takes place every saturday on the Veve'y market square from July 11th 1009 until September 05th 2009 between 10am and 1pm

There are plenty of animated stands as well as some musicians and folkloric dancers.

Producers of the region and winegrowers dress traditional costumes and sell their local products. You can also taste great wine from the region
