2008 in a few numbers

13'787 tons of garbage were collected. 39.5% of all this waste was recyled. It seems to me a great number. I heart that in Switzerland in general 97% of the glass is recycled.

87'760 tickets were sold at the Montreux jazz festival, which makes an occupancy of 90% for the paying concerts. The entire event attracted around 230'000 people in the city

76 events were organized at the Montreux Music & Convention Centre (2m2c), including 8 international congresses.

78km of perdestrian paths were maintained, mowed and marked.

109 appartments/houses were available on June 01st 2008 including 47 to be rented and 62 to be sold. This is very few, that's probably why prices for appartments are so high.

Road department

I just found some numbers about what the road department did in 2008.
Not really intersting, but I must say that we should thank them for the great job they are doing because I must admit that the city is really clean

* 41'806 hours to clean roads, path, toilets and fountains

* 2'239 hours to take the snow out of the roads and to salt them

* 2'248 hours for the maintenance of the water courses

* 21'450 hours to collect all the garbages

* 14'664 hours pour the maintenance of roads, sidewalks and art sculptures

* 1'028 hours regarding storm damages

* 4'449 hours for special events

* 2'653 hours to eradicate rats and for vandalism.

Population established in Montreux

I often see articles in magazines, newpapers saying that Montreux is a city ! I would rather say that it is a little town or even better a resort.
Below the numbers of the population who is establised in Montreux between 2004 & 2008.

What surprised me when I saw these official numbers was the amount of foreigners that I am part of it.
