The socialist Olivier Gfeller proposed a postulate to make the last stretch public between Clarens and Montreux. This
idea is not from yesterday and many other cities and villages have the problem around the lake.
The thing is that all the lakeside is supopsed to be public and should be accessible to everybody. However in the reality this is not the case, due to rich people who have their house
in front of the lake.
The question is probably how would these people react if we add a path in front of their house ? would they stay ? If not the towns might loose big amount of taxes.
In Montreux most of the laskeside (92%) is accessible to everybody, so should Montreux also open this last part ? The question is not easy

Do you know many cities that make profits ? Except Montreux, I personnally do not know any other one.
Despite the fact that no rich person died like 5 years ago and where the city had received the modest sum of 61 million francs, In 2008, the town of Montreux has a profit of 24 million
francs, far from their estimates, which predicted a surplus of CHF. 67'500. --
Result, the town of Montreux is capitalized at 60 million francs. When other cities calculate the debt per unhabitant, Montreux is blessed to have a reserve of CHF. 3'240. - / person (around
24 unhabitants).
While it is true that 10 years ago the town was losing money and that the current economic situation is not favorable, it would to my opinion still worth spending a little of that money to
improve the infrastructure of the city and prepare its future
