HR Giger Museum & HR Giger bar - Gruyères

The Hans Ruedi Giger museum looks between reality and fiction in the middle of this medieval town.When you find yourself in front of the door, you will be like « What the hell this museum is doing here?”

I would no advise to bring young children – check these videos and you will understand why !

However I found it very interesting. HR Giger is a Swiss artist who won the oscar in 1980 for “Best Visual Effect” for his participation in the movie “Alien”. In the museum, you will find a huge collection of Giger film sets, sculptures and paintings. If you like dark art – go and visit this museum,

Go for a drink at the HR Giger bar which is close to the musuem. It worse having a coffee there for the decor which seems to be the inside of an Alien.

Gruyère Introduction

At the foot of the Pre-Alps, the town Gruyères that has given its name to the famous Gruyère cheese is a picturesque & medieval town. This little town is in a beautiful setting, typical swiss, 30 minutes by car from Montreux. If you do not wish to drive, use the Regional Pass, you will enjoy the beautiful landscapes.

It really worse going there for 1 day as there are many things to do. However I would advise this excursion only when you have a nice blue weather, the region can be very foggy. Do not forget to take some good shoes. More details in future articles.
