As I mentioned in a previous article, the Freddy Mercury Memorial day takes place in the city every year. 
In 2009, it will be on September 06th & 07th 2009. 

Many activities will take place during these 2 days: 
- Boat ride to the lake House (house of Freddy Mercury)  with Peter Freestone (he was the personal assistant of Freddy Mercury during the last 12 years of his life)
- Possibility to have a lunch and dinner under the market place, near the statue and with live music. 
- Projection of various Queen videos under the market place
- Peter Freestone will answer to the fam questions near the statue   
- Live concerts at the NED
- Birthday celebration. For the occasion which will take place at 11.45pm, the Montreux municipality will offer a glass of wine of the region.

I never attended this event but I know that several hundreds of fans are coming from all over the world on this occasion, so if you pass by the region, I guess it worth going to the covered market place
