Montreux and Freddy Mercury was a kind of love story.

He came to the Swiss Riviera in 1978 for the first time. One of the main reason was of course for the calm and beauty of the region. But also because of the famous Mountain studio which was at that time, one of the best in the world.
Freddy Mercury was so impressed by the work of David Richards (sound engineer of the studio) that he bought the studio and hired David as his producer and sound engineer.

Freddy mercury and Queen recorded many tracks in Montreux including the famous "Made in heaven"
just before to pass away in London a few days later.

A couple of years after, a statue was placed on the lakeside, in front of the market place. This is now a monument of the city to "visit"where you will always find some flowers that fans place to honor his memory.

Since a couple of years, a Freddy Memorial Day takes place in the city in September.
