New Summer card at the restaurant Bellagio

The summer card of our new Chef Aurelien Millot is now available at the cafe Bellagio of the hotel Royal Plaza Montreux.

A great mix of various tastes. Here we are with a few dishes available:

Starters - From CHF. 14. --
* Freshwater crayfish cream soup falvoured with tarragon served "Cappucino style"
* Scallops carpaccio flavoured with gingerserved on a spinach sprouts salad
* Duckling breast & foie gras terrine marinated with Cognac, served with balsamic vinegar and sweet milk bread

Meats - From CHF. 39. --
* Tenderloin of Pork fillet "piccata style" with porto wine and white truffle oil, scalloped potatoes and fresh pan-fried vegetables.
* Beef fillet "Rossini style" with spicy juice, darphin potatoes and seaonal vegetables.
* Chicken breast, brown rum and pineapple sauce, sweet mashed potatoes and chips

Fish - From CHF. 42. --
* Red tuna fish with sesam, lavender honey juice, saffroned rice and seasonal vegetables
* Grilled seabass, soya sauce with cebettes, mashed potatoes with mini asparagus
* scallop skewer served with leeks and fresh pasta flavoured with vanilla oil

The Montreux Volley Masters 2009 opening games of yesterday

The 2009 Montreux Volley Masters started yesterday with an opening game between China and Poland. China who logically won after too many mistakes from Poland.

Regarding the match between Brazil and Germany, despite the motivation and tenacity of The Germans, Brazil showed an amazing volleyball and won on the score of 3 :0.
Brazil did reign everywhere, especially in defense, and ended up winning the last set to an amazine 25 to 14.

For the game between Cuba and Japan, Cuban won on the score of 3:0 as well even if they had hard time at the beginning due to many errors. Japan played pretty well on every single point but Cuba could relay on an excellence presence at the net.

Chez Mata Kalimera restaurant

It is now the 4th or 5th time that I go to this restaurant and I have never been disappointed.
It is a tiny greek restaurant which is situated accross the Chillon Castle.
From Montreux, you will need 10 minutes by car, however you can use your Riviera Card or even walk on the lake side but then it will last you probably one hour.

This is a family restaurant where the husband cook and the wife is doing the service alone. There is probably not more than 40 seats.

The only bad point about this restaurant in Montreux is that it is situated right on the main street. They have a terrace however I rather eat inside where there is a nice mediterranean decoration with a huge plasma screen that features Greek concerts/music.

The food is very tasty and portions are great. I would highly recommend the "anti pasti" plate (It is probbaly not the right name) where you find shrimps, wine leaves, potaoto puree with herbs, tamara, etc....
I guess it is served for a minimum of 2 people and can be taken as an entrance or as a main dish. If you take it as an entrance, be carfeull as you may not be very hungry for the main course.

For the main course, they offer a wide range of fishes, mostly grilled (royal shrimps, sea bass), of course a delicious mousaka (that I personnally tasted) and many meats skewers.

Rates are reasonable and the wine list offers some great Greek wines. Do not forget to take an Ouzo for the aperitif

MJF 2009: Studio 41 program is known

End of May 2009, the program of all the free concerts and events of the Montreux jazz Festival 2009 was released.
Even if you do not attend any of the major concerts, I believe it really worse doing a tour in Montreux as the atmosphere is really special during this period.
Of course if you do not like the crowd, avoid week-ends.

Since 3 years the hotel Royal Plaz Montreux did a strong partneship with the jazz and now offers in their conference centre (it is too noisy to make a conference during this period...) a very trendy place for house lovers called the Studio 41. 2-3 dj's per night like Sir Colin, Mr Mike, Miles Numan, or Igor Blaska will make you dance from 11pm until 04-05 am.

This venue is really packed every day so avoid to come in between 00h00 and 02h00 as you might wait for 1 hour before to enter.
The great thing about the Studio 41 is that it is surrounded by a garden and there is also a nice terrace to enjoy the evening without too much noise.

Another Montreux Suisse Hotels advantage

I told you a few days ago the various nautic possibilities you now enjoy with Aloc Boat and their Mastercraft X30 which is at the 5 star Royal Plaza deck.

For the clients of the Eden Palace or Excelsior who wish to come to the Royal Plaza for a boat trip for example can now come with the little train free of charge.
This little train is running 7 days a week for the entire summer (except on rainy days) and will be available evry hour between the Royal Plaza Montreux and the port of Territet. All Montreux Suisse Hotels guests can use without any cost. However everybody can of course use it - I guess that the price is CHF. 6. -- / person for an adult (I am not sure).
There are some stations at the:
* Royal Plaza Montreux
* Market Place
* swimming pool of the casino
* Eden Palace au lac
* Grand Hotel Excelsior
* Biotonus Clinique Bon Port
* Port of Territet

The time table is available on all these places.
This is a nice attraction for children who just love it but also for people who do not wish to walk too much after a nice swim at the casino.

The Montreux Sundance 2009 is about to start....

We are finally May 29th 2009, and the Montreux Sundance 2009 is about to start tonight with an excellent line up: Everybody is waiting for David Guetta.
With the great weather we currently have in Montreux, people are already starting to come and enjoying the lakeside.
However the parking of the Royal Plaza Montreux is already fully booked so I guess it will be a nightmare to find a parking space tonight in Montreux. Be carefull, on where you park because the police is not very kind and cooperative even during such events. Tickets start from CHF. 40. -- and I let you imagine if they catch you with too much alcohol.

For those who do not wish to come by car or train, there are still a few rooms left at the Eden Palace au lac. Forget the Royal Plaza Montreux and Villa Toscane which are already fully booked........... probably because Ddavid Guetta is staying there tonight
