Prince is confirmed for July 18th 2009 !!!!!

Today took place at 3:30pm a conference press to confirm the venue of Prince to the Montreux Jazz Festival 2009 on July 18th.
He will perform 2 exceptional concerts on that evening. The first one will start at 7:00pm and the other late in the evening. Bother concerts will attract around 8000 people. He singer Bria Valera should also come for this occasion.
The cost of a standing ticket is CHF. 195. -- and seated tickets are at CHF. 480. --

Prince should arrive a few days earlier to start to repeat. I guess he is sleeping at the Montreux Palace.

Tickets will be on sales from tomorrow but I do not know from what time. However hurry up because 2 years ago everything was sold in a couple of hours. If you miss the online tickets you will still get to buy some on the spot the day of the concert. Again "however" 2 years ago when I came to work at 8am I saw around 100 people sleeping in front of the congress centre !!!! ... and tickets were on sales at 5pm.....

Ready for the Montreux Jazz festival

Tomorrow will start the Montreux Jazz Festival and we feel it!!!. The first VIP's and performers are checking in at the hotel Royal Plaza Montreux, it is getting more traffic on the road and most of the stages and chalets on the lakeside are ready.

We just need to hope we will have a nice weather. A stormy weather is planned for this week-end but there is anyway enough inside concerts and events to come even if it is raining.

Last thing which is pending is the concert of July 18th 2009. Today again, I heart that Prince is supposed to come. I do not know if it is true but I heart that it is not signed yet for a matter of tax. It seems that the artists have to pay a tax of 20% but he is asking to the Jazz to pay it as well....of course they refuse
Let's hope they will find a deal otherwise I do not now how they will find a good artist in less than 2 weeks.

Michael Jackson is dead... but did you know the following ?

I discovered the death of Michael Jackson this morning on internet and a couple of hours later, it was (or it is) the major breaking news on all medias. I guess we will often hear these songs (great by the way) for the next days.

However did you know that Michael Jackson spent 2 weeks in Montreux in 1999 ? He stayed in the suite tower of the Montreux Palace

He came to Montreux to record the song "Blood on the dancefloor" at the mountain studio (where Queen also recorded some CD's). Unfortunately the studio, which was located in the casino of Montreux does not exist anymore. There is now a discotheque.

He seemed to enjoy the tranquilitiy of the city and I just read on a web site that he wanted to buy the "Manoir de Ban" (House of Charlie Chaplin), however it was refused.

Michael Jackson did several concerts in Switzerland however according to the information that I have, never in Montreux.

Hotel Staff like stars !!!

During the Montreux Sundance 2009, the other festival of Montreux, all the stars were staying at the Royal Plaza Montreux. We were pleased to welcome all the biggest DJ's like David Guetta, Martin Solveigh, etc....

The staff of the hotel, especially the ladies seems to like to be shot with these guys. Of course I recognize David Guetta but have no idea on who is the one with Stéphanie, our assistant Front Office manager.

Anne seems to be very stressed in presence of David Guetta

So cute !!!

Bol D'or 2009

On saturday, June 12th 2009 will take place the new edition of the Bol d'or 2009, the most famous and exciting boat regate on Lake Geneva. It will start from Geneva at 10am and will end ????? in the Bouveret, near Montreux.
It probably does not worse waiting for them at le Bouveret as nobody knows when they will arrive. The record was hit 15 years ago in a little bit more than 5 hours. However last year the winner made it in 09h34 and the last one in 30h02 !!!!

530 boats are expected for this fantastic race and many stars like Loick Peyron, Russel Coutts, Frank Cammas will be part of the race.

I guess it just worse to keep an eye on the lake as the view is just fantastic when we can see so many boats. Moreover the weather forecast is fantastic for this week - end (in term of sky but I do not know for the wind)
