De : Ruer, Hélène
Envoyé : vendredi, 25. septembre 2009 16:00
À : Emeline Lacroix
Cc : Daniel Broennimann
Objet : Merci
Bonjour
Emeline,
Bon
week-end
Hélène

This week-end I read a very nice article in the "24 heures".
The newspaper mentions that Montreux might welcome the 13th Francophonie summit in October 2010. This event gathers every 2 years the presidents of 56 countries. It would
represents 10'000 room nights in the region which would be excellent for the local economy. Moreover it would be ideal in term of image due to the number of journalists that follows the
event.
After that the Madagascar bid was not accepted, it seems that Montreux is the only destination left still in the run. Montreux was preferred compared to Zürich and Geneva as it is
a smaller city which is more friendly.
The main issue will be for sure the security but I guess that this is easier to manage in a small city like Montreux rather than in a big capital.
If Montreux will really organize the 13th Francophonie Summit, it will be the biggest event the region ever welcomed

Quick message to remind you that next monday, September 21st 2009 is a holiday called "Jeune Federal" in Switzerland. It concerns most
of Switzerland except Geneva that has its own date.
All shops, banks, supermakets will be closed on that date.

From September 25th to september 27th 2009, will take place in Lutry the 63rd Harvest Festival of Lutry. Most of the cellars will be open to the public.
I know that Swiss wines are not so well known abroad but this is probably due to the small quantities that are producted, so not much are exported. However, some reach an excellent quality and I
guess it is a good occasion to discover the local wines and products.
Moreover the Lavaux region is part of the UNESCO heritage so I would advise you to take this occasion to walk around in the wineyard. You will enjoy for sure the beautiful views
over Lake Geneva.

Programm, sept 25th 2009
Opening at 18h00 and closing at 03h30. All cellars will be open and 5 concerts will take place in the town.
Programm, sept 26th 2009
Opening at 08h30 with a traditional market that offers many local products. Then there will be a boat regate, a rallye for children and several concerts will take place throughout the
day. Closing at 04h30
I saw that Larry Woodley will perform at 23h45. This is an american guitarist who came many times to the jazz Festival - He plays rock, blues, etc.... he makes things move.
Programm, sept 27th 2009
Opening at 11h00. From 15h00 there will be a big "cortege" with more than 500 childen. The entrance fee is CHF. 10. -- / person

Vevey Retro is a dedicated event to the old vehicles that will take place on september 12-13th 2009 on the market place of Vevey. The aim of this event is to gather owners and amateurs
of old cars, motor bikes, etc..... and even tractors. Do not expect thousands of luxury cars as it is open to all kind of marks and models.
However if you like cars, I guess it is a nice occasion to interact with owners and fans.
If you like the famous "mini", just go there as they will celebrate the 50th anniversary of this mythic car. This year the Vevey retro will also be dedicated to british cars.
If the weather is nice, I guess it is a nice occasion to walk around in Vevey, also in the old town which is cute, a few steps from the market place.
